Application of Thermostable Flavoproteins and Thioredoxin-thioredoxin Reductase System in Chemistry

Prof. Ma was as a Max-Planck-Institute fellow in Germany and obtained his PhD from Philipps-University Marburg, Germany. He worked as a research associate at the University, and a postdoctoral fellow and then an assistant research scientist at the University of Georgia, United States. He became a graduate faculty at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia.  He is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Waterloo, Canada.
 
Prof. Ma's ongoing research focuses on metabolism, enzymology and biofuel production in hyperthermophiles, a group of microorganisms growing optimally at 80°C and above or capable of growing at 90°C and above. There are great potential for their use in chemical and biotechnological applications.
